Design Brief: a back garden with a sunny aspect and light sandy soil. The rectangular lawn was uneven and frequently showed yellowing patches, particularly during the dry summer months. The client wanted to improve the lawn and create a planting scheme that provided some structure as well as providing colour throughout the seasons.

Design Brief: to create a show garden to celebrate the transformation of the Derby Branch of the MS Society into the Lilian Prime MS Centre. The garden should look beautiful as well as being practical, with seating areas for quiet contemplation and reading, as well as providing full wheelchair access to visitors. The design by Sue Arthur and Darren Purdy, in association with Derby College, achieved a Silver Award at Gardeners' World Live 2021.
