Ornatum Gardens is a Midlands-based garden design and restoration business. We are plant specialists and our garden designs are always about the plants and the soil in which they grow. Our professional design team won a Gold Medal at Gardeners' World Live 2022 and received the award for the Best Beautiful Border Gardeners' World Magazine Subscriber 2022.

"We love beautiful planting, wild meadows, insect-friendly gardens, undulating borders - but it's what you love that matters most to us."

Sustainability and respect for our shared environment is hugely important to us. We will look for solutions that deliver the greatest benefits and do the least harm.

Outdoor spaces are so important to our health and wellbeing. Spending time in green spaces and natural daylight helps to lower anxiety and have a beneficial effect on our state of mind.

Q&A

Where are you based?
We are based in the East Midlands and work mostly in Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

How do you carry out a garden design project?
We begin by visiting you to listen to your needs. We will follow that with a detailed questionnaire which enables us to understand your requirements in greater depth and forms the initial design brief. The project work begins at this point with the preparation of plans. We usually carry out a detailed site survey which includes soil sampling and analysis. Once the initial plans are completed we will negotiate a program of works and a suitable timescale according to the time of year for planting.

How important is sustainability?
We consider environmental sustainability in everything we do - from the way we work, how far we travel and the resources we use. We avoid the use of chemical sprays, reduce the use of peat to an absolute minimum and look for organic solutions to issues around the garden.
