Lawns
If your are not satisfied with your existing lawn there are several options. Re-turfing will cover the ground with new turf and transform the space for an instant green lawn. Re-seeding will take longer for the new lawn to establish but it is a cheaper option. Repairs using seed or turf may solve the problem.
Check for our availability over the next 6 weeks - we are based near Burton-upon-Trent and undertake projects in Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
Q&A
How do you go about re-turfing a lawn? The key is proper preparation of the site. We will remove any existing turf and dig out any deep-rooted perennial weeds. Occasionally we may need to supplement the topsoil if the soil is very poor. We will then rotavate the area and firm it down without compacting it so it is ready for the new turf.
How do you go about re-seeding a new lawn?
The preparation is essentially the same as for a new turfed lawn. It's important to remove problem weeds, such as docks, nettles and dandelions. Very poor soil may need the addition of extra compost or topsoil. When the area is rotavated and firmed we will sow the seed mix and net the area to protect it.
Do you remove waste and old turf?
We usually remove old turf and waste. There is a cost for this which we will itemise in the quote should you wish to dispose of the waste yourself.
How about the aftercare of my new turf lawn?
It's essential that new turf doesn't dry out otherwise it will die before it has the chance to develop deeper roots. The turf should be watered every day during hot and dry periods with a sprinkler. It's best not to walk on the new turf if at all possible. It should be cut lightly for the first time after about 4-6 weeks.
How much will my new lawn cost?
Send us the dimensions of the area and we'll calculate a quote for you. We usually like to visit the site prior to commencing any work.
